WOW!! I took my first ride to Canyonlands lastnight with my wonderful man and 2 little sisters... What an amazing thing to see!!
We started off @ 6:30 PM up to see Monticello Lake and take the girls up the mountian to enjoy the beautiful scenery and ALL of the deer (AND COWS??). Yeah... There were herds and herds of cattle on the mountian.. Who knew?? LOL... Anyways we drove to the Lake then started off to Canyonlands and all I could say was.. DAMN!! I have never seen anything so beautiful in all of my life (and I lived in Alaska). We saw the most prettiest sunset I have ever experienced in my life. We decided to go to the falls where everyone went camping this April b/c I have never seen it and we were on a nice drive enjoying the evening...
We headed in and there was an AMAZING water puddle about a half mile in. We of course were in the "Black Beast" AKA Kirks truck and we had to mud bogg it for the first time... WHAT A BLAST (even being 9 months pregnant). The girls were giggling & screaming b/c they were having a blast (it was like a mini Monticello Lake). The red water splashed up and over the truck covering the windows so we couldn't see anything.. he he he what fun it was... We continued on to the "Falls"... We cross the creek and park on the other side... I looked @ Kirk and said... "These are the Falls??" LOL... The water wasn't running off of them in a huge amount, it was more like it was trickling.... But it was the amazing views that I was enjoying.
The girls wanted to go down and put their feet in the water (by this time it was 8:30 - 8:45 PM). Kirk and I walked around and me being the worry wort I am was concerned about Mercedes b/c she is a lil on the blonde side and sure enough we hear a call from her saying... "HELP ME IM STUCK!!"... We go over and sure enough she was knee high in the red sand and yep... my 17 year old sister was stuck and couldn't get out.. HAHAHAHA... Kirk went down 2 pull her out. We decided it was time to go b/c it was about 9 PM and getting dark... We all loaded up in the truck and YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FREAKING KIDDING ME... The damn truck wouldn't start. So we gave it a few and tried again... Sure enough NOTHING... All we could figure was something got wet and it needed to dry out. We gave it 20 more minutes and tried again... NOTHING!!! Kirk said lets give it til 945 and try agian... So we got out and walked around got back in the truck and watched the moon come up over the rocks and WOW... another amazing experience... How beautiful it was to be in the middle of nowhere and watching that. We tried again to start the truck and WOW NOTHING AGAIN... This went on for 4 more hours lastnight... YES 4 FREAKING HOURS of being stranded in the middle of nowhere with NO CELL SERVICE...
By 145 AM after the truck giving us a little glimmer of hope a couple of times before I had an overwhelming feeling to try it just ONE MORE TIME and sure enough... The BLACK BEAST started... the girls screamed with joy and I looked @ Kirk and said DON'T U DARE TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THAT THROTTLE as I jumped out and closed the hood... We arrived home about 245 AM and from all of the excitement, frustration, and emotions we were all drained and ready to go to bed... Needless to say my 15 and 17 year old sisters didn't crawl outta bed til 1230 this afternoon.. And my poor sweet man had to go to work by 8 am and yes he was and is exausted...
Hope you all enjoy the pics I got of our "BIG ADVENTURE" lastnight.
